About the Event
Time to get ready for our Annual Poker Chip Run which will be held on Saturday, March 16 th 2024. We are changing it up a little this year by using Poker Chips instead of Poker Cards. Registration will take place at Heart & Soul Café, 4705 E Carefree Highway, Cave Creek and will start at 8:30 am and end at 9:15 am. The restaurant opens at 8:00 AM so you will have time to enjoy breakfast before
heading out.
The cost will be $15 per hand, and additional hands can be purchased for $10 each. We can only accept cash, so please try to bring the exact amount.
You will draw your first round of poker chips at Heart & Soul Café, and you will also receive printed directions for the route. GPS instructions will also
be sent out prior to the event, which will indicate the three additional stops. Our last stop will be at The Cove Restaurant, at Bartlett Lake. Lunch will
be served in a private area on the patio, and although you can order anything from the menu, Brad, the owner has given us special pricing on
several popular items:
Cheeseburger & Fries $9
Chicken Caesar Wrap & Fries $13
Chicken Caesar Salad $13
Breakfast Burrito & Fries $12
Vegan Burrito $11
When you arrive at The Cove you will see a designated area which will be reserved for our bikes.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some amazing prizes.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Boster or Lucia & Hank Wheele.
We look forward to seeing you at this years’ Annual Poker Chip Run!

Poker Runs are Boring... Let’s Have a Poker Chip Run
This year, the poker run will be different to make the experience more interesting. We will use poker chips rather than cards, so the winners will not be the best poker hand. Rather, each stop will have an opaque bag with equal numbers of four different color poker chips. The winners will be the highest and lowest point values of the different colored chips randomly determined at the beginning of the ride.
How it works
At registration, you will buy one or more blank “Poker Chip Run” score cards to tally your progress. Riders will follow the route, stopping at each designated “draw” site. The draw bag will have 4 poker chips of each color for a total of 16 chips. Each person with a card blindly picks four poker chips from the bag one at a time. The color is recorded, and the chip is returned to the bag. After mixing the chips, another chip is drawn and recorded. The process is repeated for the fourth chip draw.
How it’s scored
The point value of each color chip is determined randomly before the ride starts so each participant can keep track of their progress. An opaque bag with one chip of each color is used. A randomly selected person draws one chip from the bag. The first chip color drawn is worth 20 points. The second color chip drawn is worth 10 points. The third chip color drawn is worth 5 points, and the last chip color is worth 0 points.
Riders will turn in their card for scoring at the lunch stop. The cards with the highest and lowest points are the winners.
