About the Event

PLEASE NOTE:  THE BAGDAD RIDE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO APRIL 13TH.

We hope to see you April 20 th on one of BMMC’s favorite rides and one of the best day

rides in Arizona. Bagdad is a copper mining town about 150 miles north of Phoenix. The

scenic ride through the desert and mountains is full of beautiful desert vegetation and

interesting rock formations. The two-lane paved roads are full of sweeps and twisties but

fun for all riding levels. Lunch is at the Copper Country Bar and Grill, a favorite stop for

bikers around the state. The owner reserved the bar area for us, and everyone can order

directly from the extensive menu.

Meet at the McDonalds at I-17 and Carefree Highway by 8:00am. The rider briefing

starts at 8:15. The first bikes leave at 8:30 for our leisurely ride to Bagdad. The route is

right at 120 miles and should take just under three hours including the fuel stop.

We will leave from the McDonalds, pass through Wickenburg, and up Yarnell Hill. Our

gas/bio stop is the Shell station in Congress, 56 miles into the ride or about halfway to

Bagdad. Everyone is encouraged to fill up at this station. After the Shell station, we go 11

miles north and turn left on Highway 15 to Kirkland and Bagdad. We turn right at

Lindahl Road directly before the Diner on Main Street and go about one-half mile up the

hill. The restaurant is on the right at the intersection of Lindahl Road and Copper Drive.

There is plenty of paved parking for everyone.

The return trip is on your own. There is only one road out of Bagdad and two options to

get home. The first is to reverse your trip and enjoy a new experience riding the other

way through Yarnell, Wickenburg, and home. The alternative route is to turn right onto

Route 97 (about 4 miles outside of Bagdad) and take it 10 miles to the intersection with

Route 93. Turn left at the intersection with Route 93 and go through Wickenburg. This

route is about 100 miles back to the McDonalds and takes under two hours.

There are two small gas stations in Bagdad. After leaving the restaurant, ride down the

hill and turn right at the stop sign (next to the Diner). If you are returning via route 93,

there are no fuel stops until Wickenburg.

Please email us at:  markaboster@gmail.com, if you have any questions. You can RSVP on the website.

We need to let the restaurant know how many are attending by the 13th so please respond

promptly.

See you on the 20th.

Thanks!

Mark and Margo Boster
