The Lake Tahoe Ride Review & Photos

July 13th – 19th, 2013

Early Saturday morning, July 13th, thirteen members on seven motorcycles and one pick-up with trailer left Phoenix heading for Lake Tahoe.

Our first destination was Ridgecrest California; a 400 miles plus ride, which the group handled well in spite of the late afternoon heat.  The group stopped in Indio at the Fantasy Casino where the staff was expecting us.  All agreed that the buffet was exceptionally good.  The hotel pool and the fountains made it a true oasis.  It was hard to leave; however, before you knew it, we were jumping back on the bikes to head to our first night’s destination.  In Ridgecrest, the members enjoyed an extended club sponsored happy hour, enjoying the first day of what turned out to be a great week.

The following two days the road took the members through the West side of the Sierra where beautiful scenery was presented around every turn.  All did exceptionally well; kudos to the lady passengers for hanging in there!  These roads were challenging!

The group rode through the Sequoia National Forest and Yosemite National Park.  The riders made a few stops, and enjoyed the incredible tall trees, including the third largest tree in the world, which would take 25 people holding hands to go all the way around.  We decided we were not really the tree—hugger type anyways…

Accommodations along the way for lunch stops and motel selections were great.   We all had fun bonding together as we worked our way through the very twisty roads, and enjoyed the over whelming beauty of the area.

At the end of our third day we arrived safely in South Lake Tahoe.  That evening we all enjoyed a festive “happy, happy hour at an Irish Pub.”

The next day, the group decided to park the bikes for a day and all enjoyed a boat cruise on beautiful Lake Tahoe.  Some of the members stayed on the upper deck to enjoy the indescribable beauty of the lake, even spotting a bald eagle in the tree tops alongside the lake.

The following day, it was back on the bikes as the members enjoyed a ride around the lake, taking in the incredible views and enjoying a spontaneous stop for lunch at majestic Incline Village.

After lunch, the members returned to South Lake Tahoe, and enjoyed a fun ride up the ski lift where they were treated with another gorgeous view of the lake.  Mark Twain is quoted as saying about Lake Tahoe, “The air is crisp, cool, and refreshing, and why shouldn’t it be?  It is the same air the angels breathe.”

On the last evening of the ride, we all gathered together for a really fun club sponsored pizza dinner, while sharing our adventures from the past few days.  All too soon, it was time to say good-bye with a toast at the pool, capped off by a lesson about life taught through jelly beans.  All of the members expressed their gratitude for the gift of seven days together, which we will never forget.

The next morning, some of the members left to continue parts of the initial Tall Trees Ride, some headed straight West, while others decided to stay an extra day, taking part in the Tree Top Adventure with a Zip Line and Rope Course.

Event hosts, Glenn & Charlie Dietrich and Christian & Patti Belzunce would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the members who joined them on this fun riding adventure.  It turned out to be an incredible ride because of the participants, and we loved all of it.  Thank you all for your humor, grace, and positive attitude, making this an extremely delightful and memorable trip!
