Deuce of Clubs Ride Review, Photos and Video

Saturday/Sunday, May 18th, & 19th 2013

On Saturday morning May 18th , 67 excited members on 34 motorcycles met at the departure point for the Deuce of Clubs Overnight Ride.

The riders were greeted by Ride Hosts,  Duane Hollis, Vickie Todd and Craig & Karla McCully. Duane gave an informative pre-ride briefing to the members, then the riders joined their pre-assigned riding groups in preparation for departure.

The groups enjoyed a scenic ride up the Bee Line Hwy, then turned off on Hwy 188 to Tonto Basin for the first Gas/Bio Stop. Following the Tonto Basin stop, the riders continued on Hwy 188 enjoying the beautiful ride along Lake Roosevelt in route to our planned lunch stop in Globe.

The hosts had arranged for a delightful lunch break at the Zen’s Café in Globe. The staff was ready and waiting for us and made quick work of serving the 60 hungry riders, selections from a special BMMC menu.

Following lunch, the riders topped off their tanks and joined back up with their riding groups and headed up the Beautiful Salt River Canyon. Everyone did a fabulous job of navigating up the scenic canyon, while enjoying the many curves and twisties.

When we reached the end of the Canyon at the Piccadilly Gas Stop, all of the riders were expressing how much they enjoyed the ride up the canyon. What was surprising, was the number of members who had never ridden the Salt River Canyon. We need to work it back into the calendar as a future ride. Following the gas stop, we headed through the Fort Apache Reservation toward our Show Low destination.

Upon our arrival at the Best Western Paint Pony Lodge, riders were greeted by the friendly lodge staff who presented the riders with a Special BMMC personalized welcome gift bag filled with an assortment of goody’s.

You could also load up on delicious homemade cookies as you checked in. After freshening up, (and having a cookie or two), there was time to gather on the hotel balcony for an  impromptu pre-cocktail party, prior to heading to the club party.  The weather was delightful, and all enjoyed the opportunity to visit and discuss the day’s ride.

At 6:00 members walked next door to Licano’s Mexican Restaurant where Ride Hosts, Vickie Todd, and Karla McCully assisted by Miss Vickie welcomed the members to the evening’s club sponsored hospitality party.

After a lively cocktail hour, the hungry guests headed to the buffet tables to partake of the delightful assortment of delicious Mexican food. It was a wonderful bountiful feast.

Following Dinner, the 50/50 raffle, and a couple of birthday announcements, everyone was ready to continue the party.  Members adjourned to the

restaurant bar to enjoy the music and night life. When the music cranked up, the dance floor was filled with BMMC members and the party was on.

Sunday morning, the guests enjoyed the hardy complimentary breakfast at the hotel.

BMMC Members Gerry Russell and Jennifer Taylor invited all of the members, on the open return ride home, to stop by their beautiful new cabin in Payson, for hamburgers and Hot Dogs.

All of the Deuce of Clubs ride participants would like to thank ride hosts, Duane Hollis, Vickie Todd, and Craig & Karla McCully for hosting this fantastic weekend overnight ride.  Thank you guys, Nicely done!

We would like to also thank Gerry Russell & Jennifer Taylor for the open house refreshments at their new Cabin. Everyone had a wonderful time.

We would also like to thank Mike Wiz for his great photos, and Steve Pressler for his great photos and super action video.
